“When Henrik Fisker showed me his ideas, I got chills – it’s literally the most beautiful Mustang I have ever seen,” says Beau Boeckmann. Both Henrik Fisker and Galpin have a long history with specialty coach-building cars, and draw their inspiration from pony cars of the 60s and 70s. Together the team created a sculpted, sleek design and loaded it with power and performance enhancements that rival supercars. The Rocket’s lines emanate from the front, through the long hood, over a set of sculptured flared fenders and converge on its integrated rear spoiler, belying the car’s extreme power and refined athleticism. The handmade carbon-fiber body—constructed by renowned concept car builder, … more
I firmly believe that the world is done looking for realistic heroes in action movies. The depressing economic hardships are slowly giving way to times of plenty, so Batman doesn't need to be one of us any more. He can be superhuman and flamboyant again. What does this have to do with James Bond? Keep reading and you'll find out.
Right up until the last Pierce Brosnan movie, James Bond was still a fantasy movie, painting a world of international power stuff. They made the cloak and dagger stuff really cool. After that, Daniel Craig arrive and started fighting terrorists from a dark cellar with pistols that didn't have infinite ammo. Boring!
If action movies were just about good aim and hand-to-hand fighting, the army would be making … more
Aston Martin previewed its most powerful, quickest-accelerating and fastest production roadster ever at this year's Pebble Beach Concours. The 2015 V12 Vantage S Roadster is essentially a convertible version of the V12 Vantage S Coupe, which we reviewed last year, a model that drops the automaker's most potent powertrain into its smallest chassis.
Unlike the outgoing V12 Vantage Roadster, this new S model boasts a more powerful engine, a new transmission, new adaptive suspension and more luxurious appointments along with freshened styling. While last year's beloved six-speed manual gearbox is gone – a thought that continues to bring tears to our eyes – everything else about the updated roadster piques our interest. We … more

Technically the 2015 Aston Martin Rapide S has a top speed of 203 mph, but that doesn’t read as cleanly in a headline. And let’s be honest, if you’re one of the four people riding in a Rapide S when it crosses 200 mph are you really going to be checking the speedo to verify those last 3 mph? In fact that’s probably the most thrilling aspect of this new Aston Martin — not that it can travel at football-field-per-second velocities, but that it can do so while maintaining a placid, top-tier luxury demeanor for everyone inside. We were given the opportunity to dip into such capabilities, repeatedly, on a recent romp through Scotland.
Credit for the Rapid S’ elevated high-speed confidence and increased … more
Aston Martin and tuxedos go together like gin and vermouth, but those looking for that extra degree of formality need look no further than the British automaker's Carbon editions. Aston has bestowed the blacked-out treatment on the Vantage, DB9 and DBS, and has now turned its attention to the flagship Vanquish.
The new Vanquish Carbon Edition is being offered in coupe or convertible form, in either black or white. Based on the recently upgraded model with its new eight-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission, the Vanquish Carbon Black offers the same 6.0-liter V12 with 568 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque, good for a 3.6-second sprint to 60 and a top speed of 201 miles per hour. What sets it apart from other Vanquish models is … more
Only one thing is going through my mind as I blast down the Autobahn at 170 miles per hour: If someone were to give me $100,000 today, I'd go buy a new Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT tomorrow.
I know there are a dozen other choices out there cars that are more powerful, quicker around a road circuit and much less expensive, but you can keep your Corvette, your 911, your F-Type, your GT-R and your top-spec pony cars. My money would go towards this entry-level Brit with the metallic green paint and bright-yellow race-inspired accents.
Aston Martin has always crafted alluring and expensive automobiles. Yet this is the first time one of its offerings has come close to making sense to both the enthusiast's heart and to his or her accountant. It … more

After skipping the 2013 model year, Aston Martin’s Rapide returns for 2014 sporting a big red S and a long list of tweaks to go along with its irrepressible sexuality and irresponsible ergonomics.
My retirement plan: One day, I will acquire a Series II Aston Martin Lagonda (1976-90), an implausibly low four-door luxury saloon with cubist edges and NASA-style instrumentation, nothing less than a time capsule of 1970s optimism and naiveté. I will then spend the rest of my natural life rebuilding the car’s electric systems.
The William Towns-designed Lagonda was the most beautiful road car ever produced by the dear old firm, once based in mildewed sheds at Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire, England, but now, in the … more
